Mental Health Resources in Newfoundland and Labrador

CMHA NL - Mental Health Resources

Mental health is not only the avoidance of serious mental illness. Your mental health is affected by numerous factors in your daily life, including the stress of balancing work with your health and relationships. In this section, you will find resources to help you stay mentally fit and healthy.

Doorways

Doorways provides rapid access to mental health and addictions counselling services ‘one session at a time.’ While most Doorways locations offer a walk-in service, some locations provide same-day or next day services or appointments by phone. Walk-in counselling services are available without an appointment or referral.

Prakash Pathways

Recognizing the lack of coordinated specialized perinatal mental health treatment in NL,  Prakash Pathways is your hub for treatment during what can be a difficult time. This is where you can find evidence based therapy, interventions, support, and more. And if you aren't sure where to start, you can book an intake assessment to find out your needs.

Open Book Doula & Counselling Services

Providing parents with the perinatal education and supports they need to prepare for birth, baby, and postpartum. These services reduce family stress and the likelihood of traumatic birth experiences and postpartum mood disorders (e.g. postpartum depression). Parents need accurate information about birth and postpartum, and the sharing of real birth and postpartum experiences so they can prepare for life with a newborn. I build trusting relationships with families, help them prepare while they're pregnant, AND provide informational, practical, and hands-on supports postpartum.
